“Making ritual is like forging a cup.  The cup may be ornate or plain, polished or rough, but if we take our cup to the fountain, the spirit will still fill it.”  from Birthrites by Jackie Singer

Whether you are looking for a celebrant for a wedding, funeral or baby naming, or someone to help you through a transition in your life, I am an experienced and sensitive guide.  I can create and hold a unique ceremony for you, or I can support you to create your own.  I also teach workshops on creating ceremony.

I work with people to express their values and beliefs.  I start by asking questions and build up each ceremony from a blank sheet.  I am not a Humanist, so I often cater for people who are not religious, but are open to some sense of the ‘more than human’ world.  Many of the ceremonies I have led take place in the great outdoors, where earth, trees, sky and the birds become part of the event.

During the last ten years I have created and supported others to create, amongst others:

Mother Blessings – preparing a mother-to-be for birth

Baby Namings – welcoming a child and supporting the parents

Weddings – traditional and same sex

Funerals – a real opportunity to celebrate a life and support the bereaved

Divorce Rituals – carefully undoing the ties

Rituals for Miscarriage

Coming of Age – a rite celebrating girls reaching puberty

A woodland scattering of ashes – I was asked to devise something child-friendly for a young boy whose father had died.

A ‘Croning’ –  for a friend turning 60 and embracing becoming an elder

A Ritual for closing a company –  paying attention to all the human strands within this task

If there is a transition in your life you would like to mark with a ceremony, please contact me to find out more.
