Music

photo with guitar.jpgShe is Gold is my solo CD, recorded in 2003. It features eleven songs some of which were performed with my band Tiger Moon (with Janet Stansfeld and Josie Webber) in the 1990s. Here the songs are arranged with a wide pallet of instruments from drumkit and bass on some tracks through to mandolin and recorder on others. Have a listen.

What the audience says:

"liltingly mellow, peaceful and serene . . .like being in a sea of gold"

"Jackie's concerts are always events, never merely gigs, and she invests as much energy in creating a sublime ambience as she does in her musical and lyrical skills" - Matt Sage (MC of Catweazle Club).

More recently most of my musical juices have been channeled into Kismet . . .

kismet photo.jpgKismet

Since 2002 I’ve been singing and playing violin and mandola as part of the trio Kismet, together with Katherine Lucas on clarinet and other winds and Melissa Holding on accordion, piano and sometimes koto (Japanese harp). Our repertoire ranges from Celtic lullabies to Eastern European dance tunes, alongside the things we write ourselves. Melissa writes intricate tunes, Kath brings her sublime vocal pieces in three-part harmony, and I usually contribute songs with mandola accompaniment. Since we are a girl band with five children between us, we have opted to tread the boards and lawns of Oxfordshire, rather than tour all over the land. We have played at concerts, parties and gardens, festivals, weddings, a funeral wake and a Bat mitzvah, and accepted commissions from University of Oxford Botanic Gardens, Oxford Youth Dance and others.

We have also recorded two albums: Growing and The Dance Goes On, which you can buy via my shop.

Kismet Ceilidh Band

kismetceilidhsm.jpgIn 2009 Kismet took the radical step of inviting Johnny Fletcher to join us on guitar and together we make the storming Kismet Ceilidh Band. We are available now for bookings, guaranteed to get your guests galloping with called dances from these shores, straying over the channel to France, and via a gypsy route as far as Israel and Romania. Check out our new webpage.
