Whether you are looking for a celebrant for a wedding, funeral or baby naming, or someone to help you through a transition in your life, I am an experienced and sensitive guide.

I can create and hold a unique ceremony for you, or I can support you to create your own.  I also teach workshops on creating ceremony, drawing on my experience and research from my book Birthrites.

I am happy holding space for large groups or small, and can swiftly put people at ease, giving clear information and keeping things real.

I also specialise in creating rituals to mark all sorts of other occasions. A well crafted ritual can make a huge difference to how we manage transitions, especially the harder ones. Some of these are private moments and some are shared with a few specially chosen witnesses.

For example, I have designed and led:

Ex

Divorce Rituals

Rituals for Miscarriage

Coming of Age

AA child-friendly Scattering of Ashes

A ‘Croning’ Ceremony

A Ritual for closing a company

Frequently asked questions

I am not a Humanist, so I often cater for people who are not religious, but are open to some sense of the ‘more than human’ world.

I start by meeting - in person if possible - and asking lots of questions to find out more about your values and beliefs, and the ceremony you want to create. Then I make a first draft and send this to you for comments. We keep going until everyone is happy with the script.

Wherever is comfortable and meaningful for you. Many of the ceremonies I have led take place in the great outdoors, where earth, trees, sky and the birds become part of the event.

No. For a legal wedding you also need to go to the registry officer. Some couples opt to do this on the same day, or a day or two before or afterwards.

Birthrites

Full of ideas and inspiration for anyone seeking to create ceremonies for fertility, birth and beyond.  It is of special use for doulas and midwives.

“A special book.  Even just reading it through is good for the soul.” Lucy Pearce

Published by Permanent Publications, with illustrations by Imogen Oxley.  Birthrites is available as a paperback or ebook.

Making ritual is like forging a cup. The cup may be ornate or plain, polished or rough, but if we take our cup to the fountain, the spirit will still fill it.
