Why do you want to get married? What does it mean to you both? When I work with a couple I make no assumptions, but begin from first principles. It’s your partnership, your story, your values and beliefs that are to be expressed in your wedding.
Because I am independent, not aligned with a faith, and not Humanist, you can include texts from any religion or none.
Is a wedding with you legally recognised?
At the moment the law only recognises church or civil weddings with a registrar (during which no religious or spiritual texts are allowed). So, if you want to be legally wed, you also need to have a registry office wedding. This can be simple and quiet, and can happen either before or after your ‘real’ wedding.
How does it work?
After a first meeting, and a set of questions, I write a draft ceremony and send it to you for comments. Then I edit, and we keep going until it’s right. It’s a joyful, creative process.
Do you do same sex weddings?
Absolutely. I approach all weddings in the same way – it’s about making a public commitment and a private vow to your partner.
What if we already have children?
I specialise in including children in creative ways so they feel part of the ceremony too.
My fee for creating a unique wedding ceremony for you is in the region of £600. This includes an initial meeting, drafting and editing the ceremony until you are completely happy, suggestions of poems and music, a rehearsal in the space, holding the ceremony on the day, and travel within a 30 mile radius of Oxford. (Above that travel is charged at 40p per mile) Also included is a short preparation for bride and groom separately on the day, to help you release anxiety and become fully present for the ceremony.
A booking is secured upon receipt of a £100 deposit, from which time I will hold the date for you.
Preparing for a wedding can bring up difficult feelings as well as happy ones. Through my one-to-one healing sessions I can offer additional support, for example to move on fully from previous relationships, so that you are really ready to open to your beloved. One-to-One Healing £45
After the wedding, I am also here to be called upon should you need further support.
I am happy to recommend venues, decorators, cake makers, photographers and other professionals, especially if you favour the hand-made and bespoke.
“Our wedding was so special, and Edie happened very soon afterwards – perhaps it was all the mead we drank! I really think we were in such a happy place after our perfect day that everything just worked out right for us. Thank you so so much again for our wonderful service, everyone still says it was the best wedding ever. I think we managed to open a few eyes as to what a wedding can be, especially what the ceremony can be.” Alice and Stu (whose wedding was in a tipi in an English garden)
“The whole ceremony felt authentic – it expressed what we wanted to express, in the right place, with the right words and the right people –you held the space, gently and encouragingly, and we couldn’t have done it at all without you. We enjoyed the songs – several people commented on how you knew how to encourage people to sing. We are planning to go up there again very soon, and thank the tree and the wood. The Blessings were also beautiful.” Morgan and Alison (whose civil partnership blessing was in a National Trust woodland glade)
